We’re Off!

We're heading to the airport in the morning and praying for miracles.

Here's an update on our situation:

As part of the visa process, our children in Ethiopia needed to have physicals. One of our children had a positive result on her skin TB test. The follow-up chest x-ray was inconclusive, so they have done a "smear" test (which sounds like no fun at all). The results should be back in 3-5 days, which would still give us time to get her visa at our embassy appointment on the 23rd. If the results of this test are clear as expected, then we will all be traveling home on the 24th. If they are not clear, then we initiate a waiver process in Ethiopia that could take 10 days to accomplish. If this happens, there is a good chance that I will come home with the other two children and Loren will stay behind with Olivia.

We are praying that all the timing works out and trusting that God is going before us and working on our behalf in this situation.

Here is our itinerary for the week:

Wednesday- fly from San Francisco to Dubai.

Thursday- still flying... and then a long layover.

Friday- arrive in Ethiopia and get settled at Guest House.

Saturday- sightseeing and getting acclimated to the time change.

Sunday- church and a nap!

Monday- meet our children at the transition home and work on embassy paperwork.

Tuesday- deliver care packages for other families and bring our children to the Guest House with us.

Wednesday- embassy appointment for visas.

Thursday- pack and leave Ethiopia.

Friday- land in San Francisco and kiss the dirty airport floor smile

Of course, this is the PLAN. As we all know, plans are subject to change. It should be interesting to see what our week actually looks like once we are there.

We will update our blog as often as possible. The internet connection can be slow and there are a lot of power outages.

Please continue to pray for us as we tackle the travel phase of our adoption.
