Two Months and Counting

Posted by Kristen Alldrin on May 18, 2009 to Adoption blog

The blessing of waiting.

We are well into our second month of waiting (yes, I am late in posting this blog!). As of 5/6/09, we have been waiting two months for our referral of two precious girls from Ethiopia. Our hearts ache a little more every day with longing for these girls that we have never met. We think of their families and pray for them. There is much more to an adoption story than just our side. The ones who do the paperwork and wait longingly for a child have the more pleasant side of the story. We know that the circumstances leading to a child becoming an orphan, or of parents having to relinquish a child are very painful. Our hearts hurt knowing what our children and their families may be going through right now. We have hope that there will be complete emotional healing for them someday in the future, but it may be a long road for them.

Keeping these things in mind helps us when we feel impatient. We are waiting, but we are blessed. Our children are healthy, we have food, clothing, medicine and shelter.

Please join us in praying for our children and for their difficult circumstances.
