We cashed in a two-year-old gift certificate for the Guest House in McCloud. What a wonderful, relaxing time!

Kristen and I took the opportunity to use a two-year-old gift certificate to the Guest House in McCloud. It's a beautiful bed & breakfast that we've stayed in twice before. Only this time we weren't with a group, and had the place nearly to ourselves. It's a wonderful inn with lots of charm, and we had a relaxing time. We also came home with a huge list of things to do, which almost steals the joy from the whole experience. Almost.

We found out about a quilting retreat happening in the historic mercantile building in downtown McCloud, and we just had to stop by. Kristen knew the instructor and a few of the ladies, and it looked like so much fun that her name found its way onto the signup sheet for a future retreat. (That makes me Mr. Mom for seven kids for three days. Quick math: that's 21 kid days. Must concoct backout plan...) While they chatted, I marveled at all the sewing machines, fabric and estrogen. There was one other guy there, but they apparently kept him in the back and made him fix sewing machines. I saw him eyeing the spread of goodies on the snack table, but he stayed put. He knew his place.

We took a picture on the front steps of the guest house, and it turned out nice. But who are those middle-aged people in the picture? When did that happen? If anyone is tempted to peck out an email saying, "that picture doesn't do you justice--you look MUCH younger in real life", now would be a great time.

Sorry this post has nothing to do with our adoption.  You'll have to read Kristen's post from earlier today to get the latest details.
