Jillian Draws a Crowd

We visited Jillian, who is starting to feel better. Her cheeks are rosy and her mouth is busy--those are good signs!

She Feels Better Than This...

I told the little ham to give me her "sickiest" face.

The kindly nurse took time to let all the girls hear Jillian's heart. It helped that Jillian had the whole pediatric ward to herself. (What's THAT going to cost?)

When Emily and Jillian started having problems from both ends within four hours of each other on Wednesday, we knew we were in for a fun night. The girls did a good job of turning the whole house into a bio-hazard. Kristen and I actually talked about just tearing the whole place down and building a new home. Or, at the very least, repainting whole rooms.

Seriously, Emily and Jillian contracted the same sickness with two very different results. Emily was back to normal in 24 hours; Jillian was still sick three days later. What to do was a tricky call. She'd hold fluids for a while to give us hope, then start vomiting again. She slept straight through Friday night, but started up again Saturday morning. By Saturday morning, we'd had enough. Into the hospital she went.

Admitting her to the hospital was a good decision. She was dehydrated, and her blood sugar (glucose) levels were "critical". She spent today (Saturday) in the hospital, and is staying the night as well. The IV is doing its work, and her color and spunk is coming back. She will likely come home tomorrow.

A huge "thank you" goes out to all who have prayed for Jillian!
