A little bag of coins can be a big blessing!

A wonderful family from our home fellowship blessed us this morning with a bag of coins and bills. They wanted to help with our adoption, and made it a family project to roll coins. They came up with over $60. Isn't that sweet? A hearty THANK YOU goes out to this family--you know who you are!

So Kristen and I sat here tonight doing our mandatory online Hague training for international adoption. The Hague treaty was a good idea, as it set guidelines and accountability for international adoption in an effort to improve care of orphans and reduce human trafficking. That's a good thing. But having to sit through 10-ish hours of Hague training can be a bit dull! It's not like reading IRS tax form instructions, but there are certainly more exciting things to do online. Like play a game, or search for goodies on Ebay or Craig's List...

Sometimes enlightening becomes frightening. The Hague training stresses that no matter how hard you try to control the outcome of an international adoption, there are no guarantees. Some countries aren't honest when reporting the medical condition of a child. Some countries administer ineffective vaccines. Some withhold important information.

But we're not scared. First off, we serve a mighty God who controls everything. Second, we're working with a solid, reputable, Christian agency that has a great track record. Third, Ethiopian orphans adopted through this agency are closely monitored and observed. They actually leave the orphanage to be cared for in a different facility until you go pick 'em up.

Thanks for reading!
