April 6th, 2009 marks the end of our first month in "the waiting place" (with a nod to Dr. Seuss).

That's right, she's seven!

Easter eggs haven't a chance. Check out that basket!

We had a very busy weekend and a recent landmark to celebrate. We celebrated Emily's 7th birthday on Saturday. It's hard to believe that our sweet little Emmy-boo is already seven years old. She is such an amazing little girl and a treasure to our family. Her kind, gentle spirit and wise-beyond-her-years character continue to leave us in awe. We wrote down some of the character traits she possesses and taped them to the door. Here's the list...kind, thoughtful, obedient, patient, generous, gentle, diligent, and sensitive. What's not to love?

We also celebrated our first completed month of waiting for a referral. May every month go by this quickly! The children that the Lord has had in mind for our family from the foundations of the earth are out there somewhere. We pray for their protection, we pray for their birth family, we pray for just the right timing for us to be united.

Loren's band (WeR1) played at Simpson College's Easter Egg Drop on Saturday morning. The girls and I went out to hear the band and to participate in the egg drop. It would have been better to just listen to the band and go home. There was a lot of chaos and some non-compliant parents who made the experience less than enjoyable. Most of the ugliness went above the kids' heads, so they had fun. I, on the other hand, was stressed out just watching all the parents who had lost their children and were frantically searching for them.

We spent Easter morning with our sweet church family. My friend, Colleen, did her own version of the Resurrection Eggs. Instead of having just 12, she had something like 23 eggs, because that's how many kids we have in our church. Every child opened an egg to reveal an "artifact" and read the scripture that went with it.  It was wonderful, because her story went into much more detail than the commercial Resurrection Eggs. Great job, Colleen!

We went to Grandma & Grandpa's house here in Redding to share great food and fellowship with them and some extended family members. The kids hunted eggs and had a blast playing in the toy room. I found out later that they did not clean up after themselves (sorry, Grandma!). We will remember to check the room next time before we leave!

We are working toward setting up an adoption fund through Lifesong for Orphans. We are still going to need to come up with around $20,000 to complete our adoption, so we are going to have to get busy. The Edmonsons presented us with a donation today at church, which really blessed us. Their kids seem to be very excited about our kids-to-be. Thank you!

Above is just a sampling of the pictures we took this weekend. Click on the "GALLERY" link to see more.
