Small Sacrifices

The girls roll up their sleeves for the adoption cause--and get a Hep. A vaccination.

We've talked with the girls about the sacrifices we're all going to have to make for our adoption. Up until now, though, the sacrifices have mostly been in the areas of Mom and Dad's time (and money). A few days ago, the concept of sacrifice hit home for the girls as well.

About 30 minutes before we left the house, Kristen said to the girls, "Hey--we're going to go get donuts!". She followed that with a muffled "Right after we go to the doctor for shots...". It wasn't much notice, but why tell them the day before? That gives them too much time to worry.

There were tears and complaints, but the process turned out to be much less painful than they had feared. (Especially for Mackenzie, who discovered she had already had been vaccinated against Hep. A before a trip to Mexico some years ago.) The girls did great, and the donuts tasted even sweeter after their little sacrifice.
